Peter is an acclaimed Australian film, television, and commercials director who has made a significant impact in the industry with his exceptional work. His professional journey began with the direction of his first short film, GATE, which premiered in the year 2000 and starred Joel Edgerton. GATE received widespread recognition, winning awards at various film festivals in Australia and overseas, including the Best Comedy award at the Melbourne Film Festival, as well as being nominated for an AFI Award and a Film Critics' Award for Best Australian Short Film.
After the success of GATE, Peter was accepted into the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS),where he created two more films, AFTERWARDS and LITTLE BLUE. Upon graduating from AFTRS in 2002, Peter was honored with the school's highest accolades, including Best Director, Best Drama Director, and Most Outstanding Documentary.
Following his graduation, Peter co-wrote and directed his critically acclaimed debut feature film, SEPTEMBER, which starred Mia Wasikowska and Xavier Samuel. SEPTEMBER was a major festival success, screening in the Official Selection at both the Berlin International Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival. Produced by John Polson, SEPTEMBER was released theatrically in Australia by Hopscotch Films in early 2008.
In addition to his work in feature films, Peter has also made a significant impact in the television industry. He directed the high-concept television series NOWHERE BOYS, which earned him a nomination for a 2014 Australian Directors Guild (ADG) Award. NOWHERE BOYS went on to win several awards, including an International EMMY, an AACTA Award, and a Logie for Best Children's Series.
Peter's impressive body of work has not gone unnoticed, and he has received numerous nominations and awards for his work in television commercials and music videos. In 2016, he received a dual nomination at the Australian Directors Guild (ADG) awards for his work on ULTRASOUND and HALLELUJAH. His Doritos ULTRASOUND commercial became a worldwide sensation after airing during the 2016 Super Bowl in San Francisco, and it has since been viewed over 100 million times online.
