Pauly Shore, born Paul Montgomery Shore, achieved super-stardom in 1990 with his groundbreaking MTV show Totally Pauly, which ran for four years and paved the way for his television and film roles.
He began his film career in 1988, providing supporting comedic relief, but it was his role in the wildly popular Encino Man, alongside Sean Astin and Brendan Fraser, that catapulted him to fame.
Shore went on to star in a string of films, including Son in Law, In the Army Now, Jury Duty, Bio-Dome, and The Curse of Inferno, but his film career eventually tanked as he faced an increasingly hostile reception and his humor was dismissed as crude, tasteless, and unfunny.
The cancellation of his Fox sitcom Pauly in 1997 further accelerated his decline, and he was forced to take a hiatus from the spotlight.
Despite this, Shore continued to work in the entertainment industry, providing voices for animated features such as Casper: A Spirited Beginning and An Extremely Goofy Movie.
Pauly Shore has been a guest on several talk shows, including Howard Stern's, David Letterman's, and Craig Kilborn's, and has toured extensively with his stand-up act.
Growing up in a show business family, Shore was surrounded by the entertainment industry from a young age. His mother, Mitzi Shore, was a well-known comedian and owner of the famous Los Angeles improv club The Comedy Store, where Pauly received his stand-up comedy training.
In recent years, Shore has made a comeback of sorts, directing and co-writing the self-mockumentary Pauly Shore Is Dead, and appearing in films such as The Wash, Opposite Day, Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star, Adopted, Sandy Wexler, and Guest House.
He has also made guest appearances on TV shows including "Entourage," "Cubed," and "Hawaii Five-0."
