Pauline Shepherd's acting career was put to the test when a television serial, titled "Home Tonight", was interrupted by an equity strike in the United Kingdom. In an effort to maintain her income, Shepherd made the unconventional decision to take on a job as a shop assistant in the renowned Bond Street. As the strike eventually came to an end, Shepherd's transition into her new role was met with such enthusiasm that she was featured in an article published in the Sunday Pictorial on July 1st, 1962.
