Biography

Paul Reiser is a multifaceted individual with a wide range of accomplishments in the entertainment industry. Born and raised in New York City, he was drawn to the vibrant comedy scene in Greenwich Village, where he began performing at clubs featuring notable comedians like George Carlin, Robert Klein, and David Steinberg.

Reiser attended the State University of New York at Binghamton, where he majored in music and participated in drama classes. During his university years, he was actively involved in student theater productions at the Hinman Little Theater, an on-campus community theater organization.

After college, Reiser began his career as a comedian, performing at the Improv and Comic Strip during summer breaks. He soon transitioned to acting, landing notable roles in films like Diner, Aliens, Beverly Hills Cop, and Beverly Hills Cop II.

Reiser's television career took off with the creation and starring role in the critically acclaimed NBC series Mad About You, which earned him numerous award nominations, including an Emmy, Golden Globe, American Comedy Award, and Screen Actors Guild nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

In addition to his television and film work, Reiser is also a successful author. His book Couplehood sold over two million copies and reached the number one spot on The New York Times best-seller list. He followed up with Babyhood, which also made The New York Times best-seller list, and later wrote Familyhood.

Reiser has also ventured into stage work, making his debut in Woody Allen's directorial play debut Writer's Block and starring in the Amazon Original Series Red Oaks alongside Steven Soderbergh.

As an executive producer and writer, Reiser has worked on several projects, including the NBC series My 11:30 and a mock-documentary about The Smothers Brothers for Showtime. He has also maintained a successful stand-up comedy career, touring the country to sold-out venues and being voted one of Comedy Central's "Top 100 Comedians of All Time."
