Paul Godkin's journey as a dancer commenced at the tender age of seven in his hometown of Beaumont, Texas, setting the stage for a lifelong passion that would take him on a thrilling adventure around the world. As a soloist in Ballet Theater and a concert performer, he had the privilege of touring Europe and the United States with the esteemed "Ballet Russe", an experience that would shape his artistic vision and skill.
However, his dancing career was temporarily put on hold when Paul Godkin answered the call to serve his country during World War Two. For three and one-half years, he proudly served with the U.S. Navy, demonstrating his commitment to his nation's cause.
After the war, Paul Godkin returned to his artistic pursuits, making his mark in the world of choreography with his first professional effort in 1948. This milestone not only showcased his talents but also introduced him to the influential Michael Todd, with whom he collaborated on the "Willie the Weeper" ballet, part of ANTA's "Ballet Ballads" series, commissioned by Mr. Todd.
In 1951, Paul Godkin's choreographic skills were once again showcased, this time in an international revue in Paris that starred the renowned Colette Marchand and Maurice Chevalier. This prestigious production solidified his reputation as a master of his craft, and his impressive career continued to unfold, marked by numerous collaborations and creative endeavors.
