Paul Roma, a highly underrated professional wrestling talent, shone brightest as a tag team wrestler in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His first taste of stardom came in 1987 as part of the Young Stallions, alongside partner Jim Powers, in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF).
As one half of the Young Stallions, Roma and Powers quickly gained recognition as one of the most thrilling tag teams in professional wrestling. From 1987 to 1989, they battled against the top teams in the WWF, featuring in the first two WWF Survivor Series Pay Per Views and the big Battle Royal at WrestleMania IV.
Roma's singles career in the WWF, spanning from early 1989 to mid-1990, may not have been marked by Pay Per View appearances, except for an untelevised "dark match" at WrestleMania VI. However, his exceptional talent continued to make him one of the brightest young stars in the Federation.
The WWF responded by teaming Roma up with Hercules to form the heel tag team Power & Glory, with Roma as the "Glory" half of the duo. During their year-and-a-half tenure, they enjoyed moderate success, securing wins over notable teams such as the Rockers, whom they defeated at Summerslam 1990. Power & Glory also featured in the main "Ultimate Survival" match of Survivor Series 1990, teaming up with fellow survivors Ted Dibiase, Warlord, and Rick Martel to take on the team of Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, and Tito Santana.
Despite their potential, Power & Glory were eventually fed to the legendary tag team, the Legion of Doom, at WrestleMania VII, losing in under one minute. They continued to experience moderate success until early 1992, when both superstars departed the WWF.
Roma's next stop was World Championship Wrestling (WCW),where he found newfound success as a member of the legendary Four Horsemen. Although the incarnation he was a part of is considered one of the weaker in their illustrious history, Roma, along with fellow Horseman Arn Anderson, won the WCW Tag Team Titles from "Stunning" Steve Austin & William Regal in August 1993. This reign would only last about a month, however.
After his stint as a Horseman, Paul Roma was teamed up with the legendary "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff to form the team of "Pretty Wonderful", with Roma known as "Pretty" Paul Roma during this time. These two would go on to find more tag team gold, twice, in 1994. By 1996, Paul Roma had left WCW and seemingly departed professional wrestling altogether.
