Biography

Patrick Whyte, a renowned individual from Balbriggan, George's Hill, was born in March 1907 as the second son of a well-known couple. He left his family's home to pursue a career in the military, serving as an officer in India before ultimately deciding to venture into the film industry, which led him to Hollywood.

At the age of 46, Whyte's dream of becoming an actor finally came true when he landed a role in the 1953 film "The King of the Khyber Rifles". He continued to impress with his acting abilities, starring in notable productions such as "Beau Geste" (1966) and "The Man Who Knew Too Much" (1956),alongside Tyrone Power.

However, it was his role in the popular American television series "Peyton Place" (1964) that brought him the most recognition. He played the character of Theodore Dowell, a role that allowed him to work alongside a talented cast, including Mia Farrow, Ryan O'Neal, Leslie Nielsen, Barbara Rush, Joan Van Ark, and Wilfrid Hyde-White.

Whyte's acting career spanned multiple decades, with notable appearances in "McCloud" (1970),"Batman" (1966),"The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin" (1954),and "The Twilight Zone" (1959). He continued to work in the industry until his passing on June 11, 1984, at the age of 77. Despite his passing, Whyte's legacy as a talented actor and a proud son of Balbriggan remains.
