Patrick John Wayne was born to John Wayne and his first wife, Josephine Alicia Saenz, as one of four children. He carried his father's name, and it seemed natural that he would follow in his footsteps. Patrick made his film debut at the age of 11 in his father's classic western Rio Grande (1950) and went on to apprentice in several other films, including The Quiet Man (1952),The Sun Shines Bright (1953),The Long Gray Line (1955),Mister Roberts (1955),and The Searchers (1956).
