Patrick Sabongui was born in Montreal to Egyptian immigrant parents, a psychologist and a French teacher/librarian, who instilled in him a rich cultural heritage. He is the eldest of five siblings, with three older brothers and a younger sister, and was raised in a trilingual household where French, English, and Arabic were spoken fluently.
As a child, Sabongui was an athletic and adventurous individual, exceling in competitive sports, martial arts, and mountaineering. His early years laid the foundation for his future pursuits in the arts.
Sabongui's passion for theatre began to unfold when he fell deeply in love with Shakespeare during a literature class. This newfound appreciation sparked a desire to create and perform, leading him to found a theatre club at his college. He not only co-directed and played the lead role of Hamlet in the college's inaugural production of a classical play but also received surprising critical acclaim.
Sabongui's academic pursuits continued with a degree in Communications: Drama from Vanier College, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama for Human Development from Concordia University in Montreal, a Certificate from the National Theatre Conservatory in Colorado, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the University of California.
In addition to his acting and directing credits, Sabongui is also a Professor of Theatre in Brooklyn, New York, where he continues to develop new works as a film and theatre artist.
