Paloma Riojas is a first-generation American with deep roots in Mexico, taking immense pride in her cultural heritage. As a writer, she is passionate about crafting character-driven, genre-bending stories that authentically capture the intricacies of being human.
Currently, Paloma is developing multiple writing projects in collaboration with esteemed production companies such as Paradiso Media, Scooter Braun Productions, and Cedar Park Entertainment. Her previous work includes writing and producing over 50 short-form documentaries on youth activism, veganism, and climate change, which were featured in over 400 news outlets and won two Silver Telly Awards in 2019.
In addition to her documentary work, Paloma has also made a name for herself in the television industry. She served as the Writer's Assistant on Showtime's Your Honor S2 and Happy Face for Paramount+. Her impressive credentials also include being selected for the Outfest Screenwriting Lab 2022, The Black List - Latinx TV List, and the Mentorship Matters Intensive, sponsored by Amazon, Netflix, and CBS.
Paloma has been featured on several prominent podcasts, including the La Lista podcast, Hulu's All Accents Welcome, and the AFC Indie Filmmaking podcast. Her extensive experience in the industry has also led to collaborations with renowned filmmaker Diego Luna, with whom she co-wrote and produced the short film Nana, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
In addition to her work in film and television, Paloma has created bilingual content for various organizations, including the Cesar Chavez Foundation, AT&T, and Honda. Her Spanish language short film Adán premiered at the Cannes Court Métrage in 2013, earning her the Audience Award and Jury Award at the Diversity in Cannes Showcase. The film also screened at the San Diego Latino Film Festival and won the best short film award at the Highland Park Film Festival '14 in Los Angeles.
Paloma's other short-form work has been showcased at numerous film festivals, including LA Short Fest, New York International Latino Film Festival, Athens International Festival, and the USC First Look Festival.
Paloma holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film/TV Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where she interned at CAA and Plan B Entertainment. She currently resides in Southern California with her wife and can often be found writing by the beach. Paloma is represented by United Talent Agency and Heroes and Villains Entertainment.
