Ómar Örn Hauksson was born in Reykjavik, Iceland in 1975, and spent his childhood in the suburb of Breidholt, where he attended school and later high school.
Growing up, Ómar was an avid fan of TV and movies, and rarely ventured outdoors to engage in sports, instead opting to spend his days cooped up reading comics, drawing, and watching TV.
In high school, Ómar discovered his passion for music, and began to fiddle around with death metal, forming the band Den Danske Dod (The Danish Dead) with his friends. He later transitioned into hip hop music, which led him to join the band Quarashi a few years later.
Quarashi's music took them on a journey across the United States, where Ómar met and worked with a plethora of talented individuals, including DJ Muggs from Cypress Hill and Len Wiseman, director of Underworld and Die Hard 4, who helmed the band's first major music video.
The band went on to perform with a wide range of acts, including Eminem, Guns N' Roses, Weezer, N.E.R.D, The Used, and Lost Prophets, and even opened shows for 50 Cent and The Prodigy.
Despite achieving some success in the United States and Japan, Quarashi eventually began to drift apart, and the band officially disbanded in 2005.
During his time with Quarashi, Ómar also pursued other creative endeavors, hosting a weekly music show, writing articles on movies for local newspapers, and even landing a role as Uri in the Smirnoff Ice commercials.
In addition to his work in music and television, Ómar is a talented designer, and graduated with a B.A. degree in Graphic Design from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2007. He has since worked as a screenwriter for Zik Zak Filmworks, and is currently a specialist in movie poster design.
