Biography

Nick Taussig is a multi-talented individual, being the author of four novels: Love and Mayhem, Don Don, Gorilla Guerrilla, and The Distinguished Assassin. In addition to his literary endeavors, he has also written for various publications such as The Guardian, The Independent, and The Huffington Post.

Marcel Berlins, writing in The Times, praised The Distinguished Assassin as "gripping, passionate, political, and emotional." Alain de Botton described Love and Mayhem as "full of insight and genuine innovation in form and content, capturing brilliantly all the nuances of passion." Matt Munday of The Sunday Times referred to Don Don as "a great book," while Natasha Harding of The Sun deemed Gorilla Guerrilla a "thought-provoking tale, beautifully told."

Beyond his writing, Nick is also a film and documentary producer, with a range of credits to his name. These include producer of the BAFTA-winning Killing Escobar, Stardust, Audrey, McQueen, Churchill, and Lek and the Dogs. His recent productions include Sheffield DocFest-winning, BIFA-longlisted, and BPG-nominated Strike: An Uncivil War, Garbo: Where Did You Go?, Dwarf Story, the BAFTA-nominated Charlie Mackesy: The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, the Horse and Me, and Call Me Kate. He is currently producing Epic: The Life and Times of David Lean and Wasp Woman: Murder of a B-Movie Star.

Nick has also directed a feature documentary, A Space in Time, in response to the diagnosis of his two sons, Theodor and Oskar, with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This documentary was released theatrically and was Grierson-nominated for Best Single Documentary. He is in production on Violent Men, a study of male violence, which he is also directing.

Before his career in book and film, Nick studied literature and philosophy at Durham University, where he obtained a First, and then acquired a Master's in Russian literature from the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies. He is co-founder of Mtaala Foundation, an education partnership and sponsorship programme to create and support a school for vulnerable children and at-risk youth in Uganda. Additionally, he is a trustee of Harrison's Fund, the first Duchenne muscular dystrophy mental health charity, supporting those living with the disease. Nick is also an ambassador for Just Stop Oil.
