Nick Alonzo is a self-taught filmmaker, based in Chicago, who has pursued his passion for filmmaking since a young age. Inspired by Sam Raimi's cult classic "The Evil Dead" (1981),Alonzo learned the ins and outs of filmmaking through various cinematic projects.
At the tender age of impressionability, Alonzo's fascination with cinema blossomed, and he dedicated himself to mastering the art of filmmaking. This early exposure to the world of cinema ultimately led to the development of his unique filmmaking style.
In 2013, Alonzo took the leap and directed, wrote, and produced his first short film, "Cut," a dark-comedy that tells the story of a man's desperate struggle to stay alive after accidentally cutting himself with a document file. Despite a shoestring budget of just $30, the film was selected and screened at the prestigious CineYouth Film Festival, held at Columbia College.
The following summer, Alonzo set out to push himself to new heights by producing his first feature-length film, "Shitcago," a dark, quasi-autobiographical comedy that draws inspiration from personal experiences and encounters with eccentric individuals he met during his time in Chicago.
Throughout the production process, Alonzo faced numerous challenges, but ultimately persevered, and "Shitcago" was completed in the summer of 2015. The film premiered at a private event held at The Logan Theater in Chicago, and Alonzo hopes to showcase his work at various film festivals, including local ones, in the near future.
