Biography

Nicholas Pryor, a character actor, has appeared in numerous soap operas, including Port Charles, where he played the quirky professor Victor Collinson. Born Nicholas David Probst in Baltimore, he received his early training from the local Drummond Players.

Pryor began his TV career in 1958 with a role on "The Brighter Day" while studying at Yale University. He also appeared on Broadway in productions such as "The Egghead," "Love Me a Little," and "Howie." In the 1960s and 1970s, he became a familiar face on TV soap dramas, including "Young Dr. Malone," "Another World," "The Secret Storm," and "All My Children."

In addition to his work on soap operas, Pryor appeared in several anthology series, including "Kraft Theatre," "Armstrong Circle Theatre," and "Startime." He also guest-starred on popular TV shows like "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and "Coronet Blue."

Pryor's film career began in the 1970s with roles in "The Way We Live Now," "Man on a Swing," and "The Happy Hooker." One of his most notable film roles was as Barbara Feldon's husband in the cult classic "Smile." He has also appeared in films like "Risky Business," "Less Than Zero," and "Airplane!"

In the 1980s and 1990s, Pryor's movie output slowed, but he continued to work in television, appearing in hundreds of episodes of shows like "Trapper John," "Simon & Simon," "Little House on the Prairie," and "The West Wing." He has also had recurring roles on shows like "Eight Is Enough," "Beverly Hills, 90210," and "Party of Five."

Pryor has been married four times, including to actress Christine Belford, with whom he is currently married.
