Nicholas Hammond, a renowned individual, was born on May 15th, 1950, in Washington D.C. His parents, Col. Thomas W. Hammond and the talented actress Eileen Bennett, who had been married since 1945, already had a son, David, born in Paris in 1946.
As Nicholas was merely six years old, his family made the significant decision to relocate to Europe. In 1959, his mother took him to witness the iconic musical "My Fair Lady" (starring the illustrious Julie Andrews) live on stage in London. This extraordinary experience had a profound impact on Nicholas, and he became resolute in his desire to pursue a career in acting. Shortly after this pivotal moment, the family returned to the United States when Nicholas was ten years old.
He soon secured his first acting role, a small part in the movie Lord of the Flies (1963),shortly after which he began to appear on Broadway and television. His breakthrough role as Friedrich in the highly acclaimed movie The Sound of Music (1965) further solidified his position in the entertainment industry.
In the mid-1980s, Nicholas made a trip to Australia, during which he also continued to act. After a year, he discovered that he had grown to appreciate the lifestyle in Australia and made the decision to stay. He currently resides in Sydney, where he continues to work as an actor, screenwriter, and director.
