Nelson, a distinguished alumnus of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts of New York, graduated in 1972 and has since then had an illustrious career, starring in a staggering number of over 75 theatrical, television, and film productions across the United States, Spain, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica.
Throughout his illustrious career, Nelson has had the privilege of sharing the screen with some of America's top leading actors, including Harrison Ford in "Random Hearts", directed by the late Sidney Pollack, and Nicole Kidman in "The Interpreter", also directed by Pollack. He has also had the opportunity to work alongside notable actors such as Billy Crudup and Jennifer Connelly in "Waking the Dead", directed by Keith Gordon.
In addition to his extensive filmography, Nelson has also had a significant impact on the world of independent cinema, starring in films such as "Uncertainty", directed by David Siegel and Scott Macgehee, and more recently, "Musical Chairs", directed by Susan Seidelman, and "Bottled Up", starring Melissa Leo. He is also the Co-Founder of The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center, an institution that provides a platform for artists and performance events that reflect the cultural diversity of New York City.
