Neil Richard Flynn is a renowned American actor and comedian, famously known for his iconic role as "The Janitor" in the critically acclaimed medical comedy-drama series Scrubs, which premiered in 2001. Currently, he is captivating audiences with his portrayal of "Mike Heck" in the popular ABC sitcom The Middle, which has been entertaining viewers since 2009.
Born on the south-side of Chicago, Flynn is of Irish descent and was raised in a Catholic household. At a young age, he relocated to Waukegan, Illinois, where he attended Waukegan East High School. During his time at the school, Flynn and his partner Mike Shklair won the Illinois Individual Events state championship for "Humorous Duet Acting" in 1978.
Following his graduation from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, in 1982, Flynn returned to his hometown of Chicago to pursue a career in acting. Prior to his professional endeavors, Flynn was an active member of the nationally-renowned Bradley University Speech Team.
