Navid Navid is a renowned Iranian-German actor and director, renowned for his versatility and exceptional talent. Born in 1980 in Teheran, Iran, he was forced to flee his homeland at the tender age of five with his family, seeking refuge in Germany in 1985.
Growing up, Navid was introduced to the world of entertainment at a young age, courtesy of his father's profession as an event manager. He began his career as a singer and dancer on stage, and later transitioned to the music industry, forming a pop band called 'Navid & Omid'. The band released two studio albums, 'Faryad' and 'Kolli Sefaresh', as well as several music videos, which gained them immense popularity in the Iranian music scene.
After completing his education at the School for Performing Arts in Cologne in 2001, Navid began his career as an actor in film, television, and theatre. He has since appeared in numerous productions, including a critically acclaimed performance as Lady Macbeth in William Shakespeare's 'Macbeth' and Romeo in 'Romeo and Juliet' at the Altonaer Theater in Hamburg, Germany.
Navid's breakthrough role came in 2003, when he played the lead in Elmar Fischer's 'Fremder Freund', earning him a nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Munich Filmfestival. The film also won several prestigious awards, including the First Steps Award, the Digital Visions Award, and the Audience Award at the Filmz Mainz film festival.
Throughout his career, Navid has demonstrated his range as an actor, taking on leading roles in films such as 'Salami Aleikum', '45 Minutes to Ramallah', and 'For a Moment Freedom', which won numerous awards at international film festivals and was the Austrian entry for the Academy Awards in 2009.
In recent years, Navid has expanded his creative horizons, working as a director and voice actor. He has won multiple international awards for his music videos, including 'November's Fall' and 'Habs', which he made for the legendary Iranian singer Ebi. His music video 'Behesht', featuring the legendary singer Googoosh, garnered international attention for being the first Iranian music video to portray a lesbian love story.
Navid has also worked as a voice actor, dubbing the lead role of Al from the CBS sitcom 'United States of Al' for the German-speaking audience. In 2020, he narrated Dalia Sofer's novel 'Man of My Time' for Audible.
In addition to his work as an actor and director, Navid is also a guest teacher and workshop leader, sharing his expertise on directing actors and producing music videos at the film school SAE in Berlin.
