Nate Estabrooks' creative upbringing, replete with storytelling, kindled a passion for film at a remarkably early age. Upon graduating from the esteemed Canadian Film Centre, this celebrated writer/director made his feature debut with the micro-indie comedy MANGIACAKE, which premiered in April 2015 and garnered widespread acclaim as a "hilariously real comedy" and "perverted ethnic comedy," subsequently enjoying a theatrical run and television distribution.
Recognized as a fresh and talented feature director, Nate's meticulous attention to detail and exceptional ability to elicit outstanding performances from actors earned him an invitation to join the prestigious Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) in late 2015, as part of a select group of up-and-coming independent directors.
Nate continues to push the boundaries of storytelling, with production on a 360VR documentary, IT HAPPENED TO ME, commencing in September 2016. This poignant project retraces the healing process of a sexual assault survivor and is expected to be completed early in 2017.
In addition to his documentary endeavors, Nate's skill as a screenwriter has been in high demand, with multiple feature and scripted television projects being sold in 2016. His impressive body of work includes co-writing the 2012 bravoFACT film, THE SIDESTEP GOOSESTEP, as well as co-story editing the award-winning documentary, BUZKASHI, produced by EyeSteel Films.
