Nathan Jozeph Peter Coenen was born in Henley Beach, South Australia, and his early life was marked by frequent relocations across the country with his father, Joep Coenen, a gold mining engineer. This nomadic upbringing ultimately led the family to settle in Perth, Western Australia.
Coenen's introduction to the world of acting came in his second year of primary school, when he took on the role of Jack in a school production of "Jack and the Beanstalk". This early experience sparked a passion within him, and he soon began to explore various creative outlets, including singing and dancing talent quests, as well as joining the Perth-based community theatre company, Prompt Corner.
Under the guidance of his first acting coach, Gerry Atkinson, Coenen went on to participate in numerous amateur theatre productions with Prompt Corner. His transition to professional screen work began in 2004 with the short film "Little Man", directed by Julius Avery, which gained significant recognition in Australia and internationally.
Coenen's big break came in 2006 when he was cast as Simon in the popular television series "Sleepover Club 2", which garnered a large following in Australia and across Europe.
In 2009, Coenen made the decision to relocate to the United States, where he spent the next three years working and auditioning in Los Angeles.
Between 2012 and 2015, Coenen attended the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, one of the top drama schools in the world. Today, he divides his time between Los Angeles and London, pursuing his acting career in both countries.
