N. Padmakumar, widely recognized as Paddy or Padma, stepped away from his role as Country Creative Head of Rediffusion Dentsu, Young & Rubicam, one of India's most prominent advertising agencies, in 2012, after a remarkable 17-year career. Throughout his tenure, he led large-scale creative teams in esteemed international advertising agencies such as Lintas and McCann Erickson, crafting numerous high-profile ad campaigns for prominent brands and garnering a substantial number of awards in the process.
Padmakumar's debut feature film, A Billion Colour Story, which he wrote, shot, and directed himself, received a nomination at the Busan International Film Festival in the New Currents selection, an official selection at the BFI London International Film Festival, and earned a Best of Fest nomination at Palm Springs. The film went on to win a staggering 17 awards and citations before being released on Netflix, where it is currently available for viewing.
Since then, Padmakumar has created Thinkistan, a highly acclaimed Indian series on MX Player, which has consistently received positive reviews from audiences worldwide. He is also working on his second feature film, Distant Teardrop, set in Sri Lanka and England, which is scheduled for release in 2020.
In addition to his creative pursuits, Padmakumar holds an M.Sc. in Statistics and Computer Programming, is an avid sports enthusiast, an accomplished photographer, and a published poet.
