Namitha was born on May 10, 1981, in the Punjabi-speaking Kapoor family in Surat, Gujarat, India, and is the only daughter in her family. Her father is a businessman, and her mother is a homemaker. She holds a degree in English Literature and has a passion for teaching swimming to young children. She was raised in Bombay and has a strong connection to her city.
Namitha first gained recognition after being crowned Miss Surat in 1998, and her success led her to participate in the 2001 Miss India pageant, where she finished as the fourth runner-up. Celina Jaitley was crowned Miss India during this event.
Her success in the pageant opened up new opportunities for her, and she went on to appear in numerous TV commercials, including those for Himani cream & hand soap, Arun Ice Cream, Manikchand Gutka, and Nile herbal shampoo.
Namitha made her acting debut in a Malayalam movie, and she has since acted in several Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and English movies. She has also worked as an item girl in regional movies and has appeared on the covers of many Tamil magazines. Her dance number "Arjuna Arjuna" brought her even more fame.
In her free time, Namitha enjoys practicing karate, dancing, watching movies, swimming, and playing badminton. She is also a fitness enthusiast and enjoys working out physically. Namitha is a book lover and enjoys reading novels, especially those by Sidney Sheldon, as well as comic books. Additionally, she is a promoter of Gadgetguru.
