Mushtaq Kak, a renowned Indian actor and director, was born in 1961 in Jammu & Kashmir, India. His parents hail from Jammu & Kashmir, with his father being a Kashmiri from the Kak caste and his mother being a Dogra.
Kak's impressive career began with his association with the Shri Ram Centre, New Delhi, where he served as the artistic director. He has received numerous accolades, including the best director award for his remarkable work on Andha Yug, Malika, and Pratibimb.
Some of his notable plays include Maha Brahmin and Alladad, which won the best play awards for the years 1999 and 2000, respectively. His production of "Andorra" starring Kartik Chaudhry as Pyder was a massive hit.
Throughout his illustrious career, Kak has directed over 100 plays, each featuring works from a diverse range of writers. These include short stories by Saadat Hasan Manto, Anton Chekhov's "Cheery ka bagicha", Vijay Tendulkar's "Ghansi Ram Kotwal", Krishan Chander's "Gadhe Ke Wapsi", Sharad Joshi's "Alladad", Vasant Kanetkar's "Kasturi Mrig", Moti Lal Kemmo's "Nagar Udaas", and Federico Garcia's "The Blood Wedding".
In addition to his work in theatre, Kak has also acted in Hindi films such as "Hijack", "Sikandar", and the Hollywood movie "Amal".
