Moni Ovadia, a multifaceted Italian performer, boasts an impressive repertoire as an actor, musician, singer, and theatrical author. His nickname "Moni" is derived from his given name "Salomone", which is Italian for Solomon.
Born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, in 1946, Ovadia was raised in a Jewish family that relocated to Milan during his early childhood. He attended the Jewish school in Milan, where he later graduated with a degree in political science.
Ovadia's debut in the theatre world was under the mentorship of renowned director Roberto Leydi, initially as a singer and musician in the popular band Almanacco Popolare. This marked the beginning of his illustrious career.
In 1972, Ovadia took the initiative to establish his own company, the Gruppo Folk Internazionale, focusing primarily on songs and music from the Balkans.
