Mishon, a 16-year-old singer and songwriter, represents the next wave of pop R&B with a hip-hop edge. This young vocalist has already gained attention with his single "Just A Kiss," showcasing his impressive vocal range and teenage charm. The track, co-produced by the Interns and Harvey Mason, was the number one most added song at urban radio in June 2009.
Mishon's debut CD, set to be released this fall on Streamline Records, a joint venture with Interscope Records, is expected to capture even more fans. This multi-talented teen is already a TV star, playing the role of Tay, the punk rock kid brother, on the ABC Family Channel drama "Lincoln Heights," which began its fourth season this spring.
Although Mishon has developed his own fan base through his acting career, singing has always been his first love. He began singing at a young age and was even enrolled in a local performing group for talented children, performing gigs throughout Southern California. However, it was his performance of "Lean On Me" at his great grandfather's funeral at age 9 that truly showcased his emotional range and left a lasting impression on those around him.
Mishon's cousin, Demetreus "Doe Mac" Henderson, founder of Dynasty Records, took notice of his talent and began working with him on tracks at age 10. They released a couple of independent CD's, and Mishon also pursued acting, landing a role on "Lincoln Heights" at age 14.
Despite his acting career, Mishon never stopped working on his music, continuing to record songs for his solo album. When Dynasty Records got a distribution deal with Streamline Records, Mishon performed live for the executives, impressing Vincent Herbert, the producer and songwriter behind hits for Destiny's Child, Lady Gaga, and many more. Herbert introduced Mishon to Jimmy Iovine, president and CEO of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, and plans for his major label debut were immediately put into motion.
