Miriam Shor is a multifaceted actress, singer, and performer born on July 25, 1971, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. However, she spent her formative years in Italy, where her academic father was teaching and studying. Shor's passion for the arts was evident in her high school days, and she was one of the inaugural students in the newly established BFA theater program at the University of Michigan.
In the early 1990s, Shor made the move to New York City and quickly landed roles in numerous off-Broadway productions. Her most notable performance was as drag queen Yitzhak in the rock musical "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" (1998-2000),written by John Cameron Mitchell. Her portrayal of Yitzhak earned her widespread recognition, and she reprised her role in the critically acclaimed film adaptation of the musical in 2001.
Shor's television career has been just as diverse, with starring roles in short-lived series such as "Then Came You" (2000),"Inside Schwartz" (2001-2002),"Big Day" (2006-2007),and "Swingtown" (2008). She has also appeared in prominent dramas like "Damages" (2007-2010) on FX and "Mildred Pierce" (2011) on HBO. Additionally, Shor has made guest appearances on "Becker" (2000),"The West Wing", "My Name Is Earl" (2006),"Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (2007),and "Bored to Death" (2009).
In 2012, Shor took on the role of Cricket Caruth-Reilly, a strong-willed businesswoman whose husband is gay, in the ABC comedy series "GCB" (2012),alongside a talented ensemble cast including Leslie Bibb, Kristin Chenoweth, Jennifer Aspen, Marisol Nichols, and Annie Potts.
