Biography

Here is the biography of Milla Jovovich:

Milla Jovovich is a Ukrainian-American actress, supermodel, fashion designer, singer, and public figure. Born on December 17, 1975, in Kyiv, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union (now Ukraine),she is the daughter of a Serbian father, Bogdan Jovovich, and a Russian actress mother, Galina Jovovich. At the age of 5, Milla emigrated with her parents from the Soviet Union, moving to London, UK, then to Sacramento, California, and eventually settling in Los Angeles.

Milla was brought up by her single mother in Los Angeles, speaking native Ukrainian, Russian, and English. Despite her cosmopolitan background, she was ostracized by some classmates due to her Soviet Union upbringing amidst the Cold War paranoia. This experience had a lasting impact on her behavior, but she eventually emerged as a resilient, multi-talented, and rebellious girl.

Milla's modeling career began at the age of 11 when she was spotted by photographer Richard Avedon. She made her first professional model contract at 12 and soon became a cover girl for numerous magazines, including 'The Face', 'Vogue', 'Cosmopolitan', and many others. By 2004, she had appeared on over 100 magazine covers worldwide.

As a model, Milla has worked with top designers and brands, including Chanel, Versace, Emporio Armani, Donna Karen, DKNY, Celine, P&K, H&H, and L'Oreal. She has been the face of Giorgio Armani's fragrance, Night, and has modeled for Calvin Klein's Obsession and Christian Dior's Poison.

Milla made her acting debut in the Disney Channel movie 'The Night Train to Kathmandu' (1988) and has since appeared in numerous films, including 'The Fifth Element' (1997),'The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc' (1999),'Resident Evil' (2002),'Ultraviolet' (2006),and 'The Claim' (2000). She has also starred in the 'Resident Evil' franchise, reprising her role as Alice in six films.

In addition to her acting and modeling career, Milla is a singer-songwriter. She released her debut album, 'The Divine Comedy', in 1994, which drew favorable reviews for her songwriting and performing. She continues to write music and has had songs featured on several film soundtracks.

Milla is also involved in charitable work, having served as Master of Ceremonies and co-chaired the amfAR and Cinema Against AIDS event at the Venice Film Festival. She has been heavily involved with The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and The Wildlands Project.

In her personal life, Milla has been married twice and has two daughters, Ever Anderson and Dashiel Edan, with her husband, Paul W.S. Anderson. She is a yoga and meditation practitioner, tries to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and has been keeping a private diary since she was a little girl, planning to publish an autobiography in the future.
