Mili Avital, a trailblazing Israeli actress, made a significant impact in Hollywood, becoming the first Israeli actor to establish a successful career in the industry. Her journey began on stage at the tender age of 17 with the Cameri National Theater in Tel Aviv. Within a few years, she had already won the Israeli Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and received a nomination for Best Actress, both accolades before she turned 20.
Avital's transition to the United States in 1994 marked the beginning of her extensive work in film and television. She appeared in numerous notable films, including Jim Jarmusch's "Deadman" and Roland Emmerich's "Stargate." Her impressive television credits include starring roles in "Law & Order," "Damages," and "Prisoners of War" (also known as Hatufim),which the New York Times ranked number one in its "Thirty Best International TV Shows of the Decade" in 2019.
In recent years, Avital has continued to thrive in her career, completing the film "Mary" alongside Anthony Hopkins in 2024 and currently filming "Kugel," a spin-off of the hit series "Shtisel." An Italian film adaptation of Meir Shalev's award-winning novel "Four Meals" is slated for release in the near future.
As a director, Avital co-wrote and directed the stage play "Next Stop at the Broadway Comedy Club" (2017-2018) and her short documentary film, "I Think Myself I Am All the Time Younger," was showcased at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2004.
Avital currently resides in both London and New York, and was previously married to Oscar-winning screenwriter Charles Randolph for many years. The couple shares two children together.
