Biography

Mike, a prominent figure in the film industry, has held the esteemed position of President of the British Society of Cinematographers. A dual citizen of the UK and Canada, with landed immigration status through IATSE local 669, Mike has an impressive portfolio of work, boasting over 250 music videos and 200 TV commercials to his credit.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mike has received numerous accolades and nominations for his outstanding cinematography. In 1998, he was nominated for an American Society of Cinematographers ASC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Movies of the Week/Pilots for his work on Snow White: A Tale of Terror (1997). Additionally, he was nominated for a CableACE Award in 1997 for Cinematography in a Movie or Miniseries for the same project.

Mike's music video awards include the 1993 MTV Award for Best Cinematography in a Music Video for Guns & Roses' "November Rain", the 1992 MVPA Award for Best Cinematography for George Michael's "Freedom '90", and the 1992 MTV Award for Best Dance Video for Prince's "Cream". He also received the 1988 MIDEM Award for Best Video for Squeeze's "Hour Glass".

In television, Mike has garnered numerous awards for his work, including a BAFTA Award for Best Programme Without A Category for Borges and I in 1984, Desert Island Discs in 1983, and Chelsea Hotel in 1982. He also received a BAFTA Award for Best Documentary for Hospital in 1978, as well as a Broadcasting Press Guild Award for Best Documentary and a Prix Italia Award for Best Documentary for the same project.
