Mihail Mutafov, a renowned Bulgarian theater and cinema actor, has made a lasting impact on the entertainment industry. Born in Harmanli, Bulgaria, he is known for his striking physical presence and captivating stage presence, which has only intensified with age.

Mutafov's professional journey began in 1972, when he graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art in Sofia, Bulgaria, under the guidance of Professor Zhelcho Mandadzhiev. His early years in the industry saw him performing in various roles at the Dimitrovgrad Drama Theater "Apostle Karamitev" from 1972 to 1975, including parts in plays such as "Treachery and Love" by Friedrich Schiller, "Careerists" by Ivan Vazov, and "A Streetcar Named Desire" by Tennessee Williams.

Since 1975, Mutafov has been a part of the Varna Drama Theater "Stoyan Bachvarov" troupe, where he has taken on numerous roles in productions like "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Dale Wasserman, "The process against the Bogomils" by Stefan Tsanev, and "Inspector" by Nikolai Gogol. He has also toured with the troupe to theaters in Haskovo and Sofia (Theatre 199).

Mutafov's extensive filmography includes over 20 titles, such as "Glass Bead" directed by Ivan Cherkelov (1999),"At the end of the world" directed by Ivan Nichev (1998),"Well" directed by Docho Bodzhakov (1991),"Do not look back" directed by Lyudmil Kirkov (1971),and "Cyclops" directed by Christo Christov. He has also collaborated with young directors, such as Nikolay Todorov, in productions like "The Minutes After".

Mutafov's numerous accolades include two Theater Award "Asker" wins, in 2002 for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Hotel between this and the other world" by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, directed by Nikolay Lambrev, and in 2003 for Best Actor for his role in "Marat / Sade" by Peter Weiss, directed by Yavor Gardev.
