Miguel Llansó, a passionate aficionado of experimental-punk-weird music and films, embarked on a journey of self-discovery, studying philosophy and cinema before venturing into the world of filmmaking, much like the trailblazing documentarians Jean Rouch and Werner Herzog.
For Miguel, the art of filmmaking is deeply intertwined with the values of friendship, risk-taking, provocation, subversion, and freedom. His creative process is often characterized by a sense of adventure and a willingness to push boundaries.
Miguel has spent a significant amount of time filming in Ethiopia, which has become his second home. He has collaborated with his friends Yohannes Feleke and Israel Seoane on several projects, including "Where is my dog?" and "Chigger Ale", which premiered at prestigious film festivals such as International Film Festival Rotterdam and Locarno, and were subsequently screened at numerous international film festivals, including BAFICI, Tampere, Hamburg, and over 50 others.
Additionally, his work has been showcased at prominent film festivals such as Sundance, Milano, Brussels, Rio de Janeiro, Odense, and many others.
Miguel's feature film debut, "Crumbs" (2015),is a post-apocalyptic Afro-Futuristic adventure set in Ethiopia. The film premiered at Rotterdam International Film Festival and was subsequently screened at Fantasia, Los Angeles Film Festival, and over 100 film festivals worldwide. "Crumbs" is represented by New Europe Film Sales and was released theatrically in the United States and Spain.
Miguel's second feature film, "Jesus Shows You the Way to the Highway" (2019),is a Sci-Fi political satire shot on location in Ethiopia, Estonia, Latvia, and Spain. The film premiered at Fantasia and Neuchatel Fantastic Fest.
