Michael Woolson, a renowned film and television professional, embarked on a decade-long journey in the entertainment industry, collaborating with some of the most esteemed players in the business. Throughout his tenure, he honed his craft under the guidance of world-renowned acting coach Larry Moss.
As he transitioned from in-front-of-the-camera work to behind-the-scenes, Michael discovered his true passion lay in acting coaching. In 1998, he developed a course for the UCLA Extension Program and was subsequently invited by Larry Moss to join the elite team of coaches at Moss' studio.
After four years at the Larry Moss Studio, Michael founded his own studio, the Michael Woolson Studio, strategically located adjacent to Beverly Hills. This state-of-the-art facility and theatre serve as the venue for his classes and highly acclaimed theatrical productions.
Notable directorial credits include Neil LaBute's The Shape of Things, produced by Danny DeVito, Jonathan Marc Sherman's Women & Wallace, and John Patrick Shanley's 4 Dogs & A Bone. Early in his acting career, Michael co-starred in the film Alive, working closely with Shanley, who penned the screenplay.
Distinguished writer/director David Mamet praised Michael's direction, stating, "excellent – not one false note." As a teacher/director, Michael has had the privilege of working with thousands of actors, ranging from talented up-and-comers to high-profile celebrities.
His team consists of three other coaches, who lead various group classes held at his theatre. Additionally, Michael offers private coaching sessions from his home and on film and television sets. Within a relatively short span of time, Michael Woolson has established himself as one of the most prominent and respected acting coaches in Los Angeles, recognized for his unique ability to cultivate depth and authenticity from his students in a nurturing and inspiring environment.
