Michael Wade Johnson was born in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, and spent his formative years in the rural area of Clay County, Tennessee. As a child, he was characterized by his quiet and withdrawn nature. However, during his junior high years, he discovered a profound appreciation for writing and music, which would become the foundation of his artistic expression.
As he delved deeper into his creative pursuits, Michael found himself drawn to poetry, lyrics, and short stories, as well as singing in bands. Music, in particular, held a special place in his heart, and he was soon writing songs with ease. However, around the turn of the millennium, Michael's focus shifted away from music, and he dedicated himself to his writing.
Over the years, Michael self-published seven solo books and six anthologies, cementing his status as a prolific author. As he continued to hone his craft, he began to explore the world of filmmaking, starting with micro-budget projects in his native Tennessee. His debut screenplay, "Brimstone," was a labor of love that sparked a lifelong passion for the medium.
Michael's journey in filmmaking took him to Cookeville, Tennessee, where he collaborated on numerous projects and played an active role in the local film community. In 2011, after a brief hiatus, he returned to filmmaking, creating the films "Creature of Habit" and "Cyclical Effect." The following year, he married Mandi Johnson and relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where he continued to pursue his passion for independent filmmaking.
In 2012, Michael and his wife made the move to Chicago, Illinois, where he has continued to work on various film projects. Throughout his career, Michael has remained committed to his art, always seeking new ways to express himself and tell compelling stories.
