Biography

Michael Villar's life is a testament to his versatility and adaptability, as he has been drawn to unconventional roles throughout his career. Born in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, to Susan McMillen Villar and Luis Alberto Villar, a Spanish native, Michael's childhood was marked by constant change, as his family moved between Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa, Minnesota, and Spain. Despite the constant flux, his only constant companion was his brother, David Villar, also an actor based in Los Angeles.

Michael's upbringing in a diverse range of environments likely influenced his decision to pursue a degree in Film Studies, Film Production, and Theater at the University of Minnesota. This academic background has served him well in his career, as he has demonstrated a remarkable range in his performances.

Villar's early film credits include his role as Leo Cottrell opposite Isla Fisher in "Visions". He then showcased his versatility at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016, starring in two feature films. In "Carnage Park", he played Lenny, a 70's ex-con, white trash, bank robber, while in "Sleight", he portrayed Packy, an urban, gold-toothed, wannabe rapper. Both films were snapped up immediately after their world premieres.

Michael's passion for helping other artists find their voice led him to discover his own. He has collaborated with a range of influential artists, including contemporary artist Paul McCarthy, with whom he has worked on multiple projects, including the memorable role of Grumpy in "White Snow". He has also worked with Oscar-winning director Guy Nattiv and is one of two actors credited in both productions of "Skin", which won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film in 2019.
