Biography

Michael Sorokorensky's life journey began in Kharkov, Ukraine, where he was born, before his family made the bold decision to immigrate to the United States just as the USSR was on the brink of collapse. As a result of his experiences with Soviet persecution, Michael holds a refugee status and possesses fluency in both Russian and English languages.

Growing up, Michael spent most of his youth residing in various Philadelphia suburbs, attending Council Rock High School in Bucks County. Upon graduating, he relocated to Ithaca, where he pursued a degree in computer science at Cornell University. It was during his time at Cornell that Michael's passion for filmmaking began to take center stage, and he decided to dedicate himself to the craft.

Specializing in animation throughout his undergraduate and graduate studies, Michael acquired the necessary resources and education to set him on the path to becoming a director. During his master's year, while studying computer science, Michael utilized his skills to shoot his first feature film, LOGOS.

Today, Michael resides in his hometown of Philadelphia with his wife and daughter, where he co-runs Black Hat Entertainment and works full-time as a defense contractor.
