Michael Ray Reed embarked on a journey in the entertainment industry as a physique model, traveling to New York for a competition that sparked his passion for performance arts. Upon returning to his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, he made his initial foray into film acting, landing the lead role in his first audition and quickly becoming a notable figure in the independent film community.
As he continued to pursue his dreams, Reed grew increasingly frustrated with the quality of scripts he was being presented with, so he decided to take matters into his own hands. Like many actors before him, he wrote, produced, directed, edited, and starred in his own films as a means of telling compelling stories, garnering attention for his performances, and proving that it's possible to produce high-quality content with minimal funding.
In 2004, Reed made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles, starting from scratch and working his way up the ranks as a union performer. Although the competition was fierce, and he faced periods of unemployment, he remained committed to his craft, using his free time to hone his writing skills.
Since his move to Los Angeles, Reed has directed numerous short films and written several feature-length screenplays that are beginning to garner attention in the heart of Hollywood. With his extensive experience in both in-front-of and behind-the-camera production, the name Michael Ray Reed is poised to become just as synonymous with the film industry in Los Angeles as it once was in the Midwest.
