Biography

Michael Lonsdale, the Anglo-French character actor, was born in Paris to an English army officer father and a Franco-Irish mother. He spent his early childhood in England before moving to Morocco in 1939, where his father found work in the fertilizer trade. The family returned to France in 1947, and it was there that Lonsdale met actor/director Roger Blin, who sparked his interest in the dramatic arts.
