Michael Gamarano Singleton, a director with a background in the working class, was born in Brazil and spent his formative years in the north of England. His creative endeavors frequently revolve around tackling socially relevant issues, with the intention of sparking critical thinking among his audience.
Singleton's notable short film, "Denzel," garnered widespread recognition and accolades, including the Grand Jury Prize at the 35th Edmonton Film Festival, which officially qualified it for an Academy Award. Additionally, the film won the Best Short Film award at the BAFTA Qualifying Carmarthen Film Festival.
Another one of Singleton's short films, "Swim," featuring Omari Douglas, known for his role in "It's a Sin," and Chris Jenks, known for his work in "Sex Education," was showcased at the 2023 BFI Flare Festival, as well as notable BAFTA Qualifying festivals such as Cambridge, Galway, and Bolton.
Singleton's latest short film, "A Night of Gharam," was produced by Agatha Ezzedine of Qalbi Productions and went on to win three awards.
