Biography

Michael Elphick was a remarkable and extremely well-liked actor, widely regarded for his iconic portrayal of Ken Boon in the highly acclaimed television series Boon, which premiered in 1986. Unfortunately, his life was cut tragically short when he passed away at the age of 55, following a long and arduous battle with illness, primarily caused by his struggles with alcohol.

Elphick's impressive acting career spanned an astonishing 33 years, during which he delivered numerous outstanding performances in a wide range of television productions. Some of his most notable roles include Dennis Potter's Blue Remembered Hills, in which he played the complex and nuanced character of Peter, the bully; The Knowledge, where he portrayed a would-be London cab driver driven to the brink of despair by a sadistic examiner, expertly played by Nigel Hawthorne; Private Schulz, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, and Three Up Two Down, all of which showcased his remarkable versatility as an actor.

While his film career may not have achieved the same level of success as his television work, it still featured a diverse and rich array of characterisations that demonstrated his impressive range as a performer.

Elphick's final roles included the film Out of Bounds, in which he had a relatively small part, and his television appearance in EastEnders, where he delivered a standout performance, showcasing his exceptional talent and cementing his status as a highly respected and accomplished actor.
