Born in Inglewood, California, Michael Easton was raised and educated in both the US and Ireland, the homeland of his parents, and double majored in English and History at UCLA. He traveled through Europe, parts of Africa, and India, supporting himself as a bartender and in various construction jobs. During this time, he photographed, wrote, and chronicled his experiences, which would later influence his work as an actor and award-winning writer-director.
His first major series role was on "Days of Our Lives", where he played Tanner Scofield at the age of 25, marking the beginning of a long relationship with Daytime television. Michael was also named one of People's "50 Most Beautiful" and appeared in several primetime television movies, leading to a significant boost in his career as an actor.
However, he put his acting career on hold when his mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1993, and he returned to Los Angeles to care for her until her death in 1994.
Michael returned to acting with Fox's VR-5 as Duncan and later appeared in Stephen J. Cannell's "Two", where he wrote the episodes "AD" and the series finale, "The Reckoning". He also made memorable appearances on "Ally McBeal" and "The Practice", both produced by David Kelley.
In 1997, he landed a role on Damon Wayans' 413 Hope Street, where he played Nick Carrington, a former drug addict and counselor at an inner-city crisis center. The show tackled a range of social issues, including drug addiction, homelessness, racism, and HIV/AIDS.
Michael's next notable role was as detective David Hume in Showtime's "Total Recall 2070", which earned him a Gemini nomination. He then returned to Daytime television with ABC's "Port Charles", a spinoff of "General Hospital", and played an unprecedented five characters within the overall "General Hospital" universe.
He helped shape and create the iconic character Caleb Morley, a vampire, rockstar, and bad boy, which was widely popular with viewers and influenced later vampire protagonists in "Angel", "True Blood", "The Vampire Diaries", and "Twilight".
Michael began playing John McBain on "One Life to Live" in 2003, a role he played for nine years, and later carried over to "General Hospital". He currently plays Dr. Hamilton Finn, an infectious disease specialist and epidemiologist, and has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy for his performance.
Michael has also ventured into graphic novels, writing the critically acclaimed "Soul Stealer" trilogy, praised by Aint It Cool News as "Graphic Novel of the Year". He has collaborated with author Peter Straub and artist Christopher Shy on several projects, including the novel "The Green Woman" for DC Comics.
A proud member of the Writers Guild of America, Michael has adapted and written screenplays for several films, including "Daedelus is Dead" and a feature about the life of actor Montgomery Clift, which is being produced by Relativity Media. He has also written and directed several short films, including "Dreamliner" and "Ultraviolent", and has teamed up with his former co-stars on the short film "About a Girl", which won the Outstanding Achievement Award in the 2020 Best Shorts Film Festival.
