Meredith Edwards, a multifaceted individual with a passion for both science and the performing arts, began his journey as a lab assistant, where he simultaneously pursued his hobby of amateur acting, earning several awards and accolades.
Intrigued by an advertisement for the establishment of the Welsh National Theatre, Edwards seized the opportunity to join the esteemed institution, undergoing a rigorous 9-month training program without remuneration. His dedication and perseverance eventually led him to embark on an ENSA tour during the war, before serving in the army in the Far East and Germany.
Upon his demobilization, Edwards returned to the world of theatre, joining the Liverpool Playhouse and subsequently securing an audition with the Welsh National Theatre. He made his mark on the stage, taking on the role of Col. Pickering in the iconic production of Pygmalion.
In the mid-1950s, Edwards joined the esteemed Old Vic, where he continued to hone his craft. Meanwhile, his personal life flourished, as he welcomed three children: Lisa, a television director, and twin sons Ioan and Peter.
