Meredith Berg is an award-winning writer/director known for infusing her genre films with cathartic emotion, humor, and political undertones. Her script for the film "Dementia" received critical acclaim upon its release, being described as a "genuinely painful movie about the dead weight of the past" that "refuses to cut clear lines between good and evil and offers many subtle twists."
Before transitioning to filmmaking, Berg began her career in theatre as an actor and playwright. She directed Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" Off-Broadway for the York Shakespeare Company. In addition to her work in theatre, Berg is also a comic-book editor, having contributed to graphic novels such as "Cowboys and Aliens," which was later adapted into a film directed by Jon Favreau and starring Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, and Daniel Craig.
Berg has written features for MarVista, Silver Pictures, and The Squid Farm, and co-created, wrote, and directed episodes of the action-comedy YouTube series "Lana Steele," starring Lilly Singh, which has garnered over 12 million views. She graduated from the prestigious AFI's Directing Workshop for Women, a highly competitive program that selects only eight women annually from thousands of applicants.
Berg's subsequent short film "Void" premiered at Screamfest and won multiple festival awards. Her script "Judith" was a quarter-finalist for the Slamdance Screenplay Competition, and she has been recognized by AFI and Disney/Fox Studios as an "up-and-coming genre filmmaker to watch."
