Meng Jia, professionally known as Jia, is a multifaceted Chinese artist, boasting an impressive range of talents that span across singing, dancing, modeling, and acting. Prior to embarking on her successful solo career, she was a member of the South Korean-Chinese girl group MISS A.
Initially, JYP Entertainment sought to launch a Chinese iteration of WONDER GIRLS, and Jia was selected to be part of the new group. In collaboration with Samsung Electronics, the group released a song titled "Love Again," which was featured in a commercial. Following some lineup changes, the members were sent to South Korea to debut.
Jia made her debut in July 2010 as the main rapper, lead dancer, and vocalist of the group, with their first EP, "Bad But Good." The lead single "Bad Girl Good Girl" achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the first-ever song by a debuting group to reach the top spot on the Gaon Digital Chart, as well as the best-performing single.
The group's subsequent releases garnered widespread acclaim from music critics and the public, resulting in an increase in their popularity. However, in March 2015, the group went on an indefinite hiatus following the promotional period for their EP, "Colors," and they never released any new material again.
In May 2016, Jia decided not to renew her contract with JYP and left the group to pursue individual activities in China. She debuted as a solo artist in November 2016 with the single album "Jia."
After parting ways with JYP, Jia was briefly represented by Banana Culture Entertainment before establishing her own independent label, Meng Jia Studio, to continue her acting and singing career in China.
