Mehreen Jabbar is a highly accomplished and renowned director and producer with a distinguished career spanning over two decades. Her impressive body of work includes two feature films, 16 television series, 11 television films, two web series, and numerous shorts and medium-length films for television.
Her first feature film, "Ramchand Pakistani", premiered at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in 2008 and went on to win several awards, including the FIPRESCI Prize from the International Federation of Film Critics and the Satyajit Ray Award at the London Film Festival. The film was also screened at the Museum of Modern Art in New York for a week-long run and received a theatrical release in India, Pakistan, and the UK, with digital distribution in the United States.
Mehreen's second feature film, "Dobara Phir Se", was filmed in New York and Karachi and had a theatrical release in the UK, USA, UAE, and Pakistan in 2017. The film was showcased at several prominent film festivals, including the Seattle South Asian Film Festival, the Chicago South Asian Film Festival, and the Issaquah International Film Festival in Seattle.
In addition to her feature films, Mehreen has also produced and directed several award-winning short films and television dramas, including "Daughters of the Late Colonel", "Beauty Parlor", "Laal Baig (Cockroach)", "Harjai (Betrayal)", and "Doraha".
Mehreen is a founding member of the KaraFilm Festival and the NGO WAR (War Against Rape),and she has served as a directing mentor at the Maisha Film Lab in Uganda, a non-profit training lab founded by renowned director Mira Nair.
Throughout her career, Mehreen has received numerous awards and accolades for her work and has served as a jury member at several local and international film festivals.
Currently, Mehreen resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she continues to work on various projects and contribute to the film industry.
