Megan Hayes was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where she developed a passion for entertaining at a young age. She spent her childhood playing make-believe, often dressing up as her favorite superhero, Wonder Woman, and pretending to be a boy in a dress.
At the age of 15, Megan discovered the thrill of performing in front of an audience when she starred in her high school production of The Pajama Game. This experience cemented her decision to pursue a career in acting. After graduating from high school, Megan attended Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, where she studied for a year before transferring to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
At Tisch, Megan studied at the Experimental Theatre Wing and graduated with honors in Acting. After completing her degree, she began writing and performing her own work, founding Southern Belle Productions (SBP) to provide a platform for emerging artists. SBP produced several short films, one-act plays, and Megan's own full-length play, Opelika, which received two sold-out runs in New York.
Despite her love for New York City, Megan decided to move back to Atlanta, where her film and television career began to take off. She continued to work in theater, while also landing roles in HBO's Eastbound and Down, What to Expect When You Are Expecting, the IFC thriller +1, and numerous commercials and TV guest spots.
Megan's breakthrough role came when she was cast as The Morphling, the tribute from District 6, in the second film of the Hunger Games trilogy, Catching Fire, which was shot in Atlanta. Today, Megan resides in Los Angeles, where she continues to hone her craft, acting in various mediums, teaching drama, and writing. She is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, having experienced the stigma surrounding mental illness firsthand through her father's struggles.
