Born into a family of ten siblings, the subject's early life was marked by a strong sense of sibling camaraderie and shared experiences. Her academic journey began at West Charlotte High School, where she graduated in 1981, setting the stage for her future pursuits.
Following her high school diploma, she pursued higher education at East Carolina University, further honing her skills and knowledge in preparation for her future career.
As she began her professional journey, she landed a role at the college radio station, WZMB, in 1982. This early experience proved to be a valuable stepping stone, as it allowed her to develop a range of skills, including on-camera work, writing, producing, and anchoring.
Her next significant move was to the NBC affiliate in Spokane, Washington, where she worked as a reporter, anchor, and producer, covering morning news breaks from 1986 onwards. This experience not only helped her refine her journalistic skills but also provided her with a platform to build her reputation as a talented and dedicated news professional.
In 1986, she made the transition to A Current Affair, where she began working as a weekend anchor and reporter. Her impressive performance and dedication soon earned her the coveted role of main anchor, a position she held until 1991.
During this period, she also became the anchor of the popular entertainment news magazine show, Extra, a role she held from 1994 onwards. Her tenure on the show cemented her status as a leading figure in the entertainment news industry.
Since 2004, she has been the leading anchor at WBTV in Charlotte, North Carolina, a position that has allowed her to continue to hone her skills and build her reputation as a respected and accomplished journalist.
