Matt was born in California, but he spent most of his life in Washington State, residing in the northern part of the Seattle area. It was during his early childhood, around the age of six or seven, that his parents had a serendipitous encounter with a group of gypsies while hiking with their children in Northern Italy. The Twining family was warmly welcomed into the fold of these nomadic travelers and learned a great deal about their unique lifestyle and philosophical perspectives.
Matt's family is remarkably musically inclined, with his mother possessing a beautiful singing voice and his father being a professional musician in the Seattle area, specializing in guitar and piano. In addition to his acting career, Matthew is also an accomplished musician and singer, proficient in playing a variety of instruments including guitar, piano, and drums.
During his high school years, Matt had the opportunity to play in a band called Stikker alongside several friends and family members, including Kris Orlowski, who would later go on to form the band of the same name. In his early twenties, he played with a band called "One Day as a Lion" (previously known as Level),consisting of good friends from his hometown.
Matt's acting skills were showcased in the 2007 film "Adventures of Johnny Tao," in which he performed 90% of his own stunts. Additionally, he was hired for his impressive gymnastics abilities, demonstrating his versatility as a performer.
