Matthew, a renowned writer, actor, and director from New Zealand, has garnered numerous accolades, including the prestigious Best Actor in a Feature Film award for his outstanding performance in 'Out Of The Blue' in 2006.
Throughout his illustrious career, Matthew has appeared in nearly twenty feature films, both in New Zealand and internationally, with his work showcased in various film festivals globally.
Since 2010, Matthew has been based in Sydney, where he collaborated with the esteemed Sydney Theatre Company on their iconic production of 'The Secret River', which successfully toured Australia three times.
In 2015, Matthew embarked on an immersive theatre production, 'The Generation Of Z', which premiered in Edinburgh and London, subsequently leading to his casting in James Gray's 'The Lost City Of Z', filmed in the lush jungles of Colombia.
Most recently, Matthew completed Jennifer Kent's ('The Babadook') second feature, 'The Nightingale', shot in Tasmania.
Matthew's initial foray into filmmaking was his short film, 'Tuffy', which he wrote and directed, and was funded by the NZFC. The film premiered in the New Zealand International Film Festival and garnered nominations for Best Short Film Script and the NZ Writers Guild Awards.
His subsequent short film, 'The Calf', co-written with Simon London, is currently in early pre-production, with Matthew and Simon set to direct the project.
In addition to his filmmaking endeavors, Matthew recently completed a six-week course at the prestigious Atlantic Acting School in New York, further honing his craft and expanding his creative horizons.
