Matthew James D'Olimpio, affectionately known as Matt or Matty to those close to him, was born at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, where his parents, Dr. James T. D'Olimpio M.D. and Ms. Louise M. Simon, R.N., welcomed him into the world. The family soon relocated to Queens, where Matt would spend the next 17 years of his life, primarily in the Bayside section of the outer borough.
