Matteo van der Grijn completed his education in 2007 at the Theatre School Arnhem, marking the beginning of his illustrious career in the world of performance.
After graduating, Matteo started his professional journey with the Theater Company, directed by Theu Boermans, in the production of Hamlet. He then went on to appear in various productions of the National Theater, including Levende Doden, De Prooi, and A midsummer night's dream.
In the 2010/2011 season, Matteo made history by becoming the first actor to play the title role in the musical Soldier of Orange, also directed by Theu Boermans. He then took to the stage again in 2014/2015, starring in Blauwdruk Voor Een Nog Beter Leven, directed by Johan Doesburg, at the National Theater.
Matteo's impressive resume also includes lead roles in Fatal Attraction and Indecent Proposal, among other notable productions.
In addition to his work on stage, Matteo has made a significant impact on television, appearing in numerous series such as Levenslied, Nieuwe Buren, Adem in - Adem uit, Klem, Celblok H, De Mannen van Dokter Anne, Keizersvrouwen, DNA, and Oogappels. He has also played various guest roles in Het Klokhuis.
Matteo's filmography is equally impressive, featuring roles in Tuscany Wedding, Daglicht, Of Ik Gek Ben, Mannenharten, The Resistance Banker, Kapsalon Romy, Hartenstrijd, and Gek Van Geluk.
His international breakthrough came with the role in the popular series Ted Lasso, with The New York Times praising his performance, stating, "I found the scenes between Matteo van der Grijn and Hannah Waddingham to be perhaps the best of the entire season." He has also appeared in Tribes of Europa and the international film The Goldfinch.
